“Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated.”
About me
Welcome to Lauren Nichols Designs! I'm a graphic designer, front end web designer/developer and a fine arts enthusiast! For the majority of my time, I live in the world of internet and website development but that doesn't mean I totally left the print design world! In my free time, I love working with acrylic paint and creating mixed media pieces or doing quick pieces with watercolors and pen. I have had the pleasure of doing an artist residency at the historic Lakeside Inn in Michigan, where I got to spend 2 weeks in their on-site artist studio to create a collection of pieces influenced by the time spent there. I also was a resident at Watershed Studios, where I got to build my first collection of paintings titled “Days”. I am based in Chicago but do freelance work for people all over the Midwest. I love everything art and design related and love helping other people achieve their visual dreams!
My Design Style
My design style is a mix between contemporary and eclectic. I love simplistic elegant designs that aren't overthought, with surprise twists and colors to make things more exciting. I love showing this in my fine art by using mixed mediums and different textures. In graphic design, I keep the text and fonts minimal and let the impact of colors, whitespace and elegancy do the talking, rather than over crowding the design with unneeded elements.
